Student Parents Collective

ABOUT US

The Student Parent Collective (SPC) is a student-led society supporting students with parenting and caring responsibilities at ARU Cambridge.

SPC provides a safe, inclusive community where student parents and carers can connect with others who understand the realities of balancing study, parenting, work, and placements. The society offers peer support, shared resources, and parent-friendly activities designed to be accessible and flexible around family life.

Membership is open to all student parents and carers, including single parents, across all courses and modes of study. There is no expectation for members to take part in advocacy or campaigning in order to join or access support.

Alongside community support, SPC represents the collective experiences of student parents to help improve understanding, accessibility, and inclusion within the university. By working collaboratively with the Students’ Union and university services, SPC aims to reduce systemic barriers and promote more flexible and equitable academic practices.

SPC runs a range of activities including support meet-ups, discussion groups, and social events. Events are scheduled at reasonable times for parents and are clearly labelled as child-friendly or child-free to allow members to choose what works best for them.

If you are balancing university life with parenting or caring responsibilities, SPC is here to support you
