Associate Membership

Associate membership is available to non-students, including alumni and members of the public, who wish to be involved in one of our societies.

Club/Society Affiliation

To be officially affiliated as a club or society, you must:

  • Fill out the start a society form available here.
  • Have a President and Treasurer (other positions are encouraged too).
  • At least 10 fully paid members after your first two months of activity.
  • Work within our Equal Opportunities Policy and have lawful aims and objectives.

As a new or restarting society, you can have a maximum of 5 committee members including President and Treasurer.

Current and active societies may elect up to 10 committee members through a by-election or election.

Eligibility

You may apply for associate membership if you:

  • Are not a current student
  • Are alumni or a member of the public
  • Have an interest in joining a specific society

Membership Limits

  • Each society may have one (1) associate member for every ten (10) student members
  • Applications will only be approved if the society has capacity

Endorsement Requirement

  • All associate membership applications must be endorsed by a current committee member of the relevant society
  • You will be asked to provide the name of the endorsing committee member as part of the application process

Application Process

  1. Complete the Associate Membership Application Form
  2. Ensure your application is endorsed by a committee member
  3. Applications will be reviewed by the committee and Student Opportunities Coordinator
  4. You will be notified of the outcome and next steps once the review process is complete
