These last 2 years the Union and course reps have been working together to campaign to extend the library opening hours, and allow students to access it at any time of the day.

We know how tough exam times can be, and that hours of productivity and avaialbilty can vary between students, Extending access to study spaces is instrumental to help all types of learners.

The library has taken on board your responses, championed by your course reps, and has arranged with Security for the area in front of the iCentre desk in the Queen’s building to be open 24x7 for a trial period starting on the evening of Monday 2 March and ending at midnight on Friday 27 March.Outside of usual library opening times students will need to access the area via the doors next to the ARU Temps desk by tapping their ID card. The security team will check IDs from time to time during the 24x7 period to ensure that people in the space are ARU students.

In order to keep the space safe and respectful, they are asking students to use the space as a quiet study area and any students being loud and disruptive will be asked to leave.

We trust students will adhere to these rules and use the space respectfully at all hours of the day. We hope that if this trial period goes well, the library will consider extending hours to all parts of the library throughout the year.

Major thank you to all the reps that have contributed to this campaign and let's hope this is the beginning of great change to our campus.
