WELCOME TO CHELMSFORD

The county town of Essex and birthplace of radio, has a rich and vibrant history. It's a city full of activities with everything on your doorstep. From bars, restaurants and coffee shops to museums and parks, Chelmsford has something for everyone.

We are also a short 30m train journey into London Liverpool Street Station, or 25m to Stratford, with the UK's 4th largest shopping centre, Westfield.

WHERE TO EAT

Why not go to your on campus café, 92 for breakfast, lunch or a between lecture snack. Otherwise, Chelmsford is home to a whole range of cafes, restaurants and more. From fine food to street food, from Mexican to Indian, the city has something for every taste (if you want something a bit different we can recommend you give Back Inn-Time a try). Many food outlets offer student discount with the latest deals on Unidays, Student Beans & TOTUM.

WHERE TO DRINK

From well known high-street brands to local independents, there is something to quench everyone's thirst. If you're looking for fun and exciting why not Be At One or A Canteen. For quiet and comfy then try Toast or Mr Cavendish Coffee House. If you're a keen sports fan then the Golden Fleece or Walkabout might be what you're looking for.

WHERE TO SHOP

Chelmsford really does offer a diverse shopping experience. There are four main shopping areas: High Chelmer, The Meadows, Riverside Retail Park and Bond Street. They are host to stores offering fashion, food and drink, health and beauty, sports and leisure, books, cards and so much more. WHERE TO PARTY

If you're looking for a buzzing nightlife, then Chelmsford is the city for you. From quirky little cocktail bars and tap rooms, to live music pubs and late-night venues, the city has something for everyone. Chelmsford plays host to two nightclubs; Bar & Beyond and Bassment. There are also several student favourites including The Garrison, Slug & Lettuce, The Ale House, Brewhouse and Kitchen, The Ship and The Railway Tavern.

WHAT TO DO

As the largest city in Essex, Chelmsford is host to some great entertainment options. If you're looking to catch the latest films, then the Everyman or Odeon cinema may be the one for you. The city is also host to two professional sports teams; Essex County Cricket Club and Chelmsford City. If you like to be active, there are plenty of leisure centres, such as Riverside Leisure Centre or the ARU gym The Old Factory, sports clubs both at the University and in Chelmsford which are always looking for new members to join. Chelmsford is also home to Airhop, Ninja Warrior UK, Spirits Bar & Games, Kingpins and Chelmsford City Bowl & Snooker Club.

WHAT TO SEE

Chelmsford has been established since the Roman times and has a rich history. Home to Chelmsford Cathedral, Hylands House and Chelmsford Museum, there are plenty of places to visit and find out more. It is home to both Central Park and Admirals Park and two waterways which run through the centre of the city.
