Welcome to the ARU Women in Medicine Society (WIMS) page.
We are a society committed to supporting, empowering, and celebrating women pursuing careers across every field of medicine. Our society welcomes all—whether you're passionate about promoting gender equity, interested in the experiences and achievements of women in the profession, or simply looking to learn more about the barriers and opportunities women encounter in medical careers. Our aim is to help you grow, connect, and thrive through our events and initiatives.
WIMS has a number of goals: 1. Widen interest and understanding of the challenges, successes, and evolving role of women in the medical profession through talks, workshops, and interactive events. 2. Host a monthly journal that explore key literature on gender equity, leadership, mentorship, representation, and the experiences of women in medicine. You will also have opportunities to develop your critical appraisal skills and present your work. 3. Provide a supportive network of female clinicians, academics, and leaders across a wide range of specialties for inspiration, mentorship, and shadowing opportunities. 4. Help you build your portfolio and professional confidence, offering guidance and experiences that support your development in whichever medical specialty you wish to pursue.
