Welcome to the Ruskin Journal, made for students by students!
My name is Jamie Torregrossa, and I am a Law LLB student at ARU London. I've created this safe space to share ideas, concerns, experiences, fun bits about yourself, anything you like!
Remember, your voice always matters!
If you want your article to be featured in the next publication, please email me at ruskinjournal.london@arunion.co.uk
, with your article and your name (if you'd like to be anonymous, that is ok too!)
All articles should not be shorter than 300 words, or longer than 800. Be yourself, enjoy writing, and be respectful!
The articles can be about any subject you like: and don't worry about being a professional writer, I am not either! But that's what makes it fun.
Physical copies will be available on campus, published monthly at the beginning, and then fortnightly, so anyone can take them home.
The Journal will have different sections, according to the articles submitted, and will be divided by topic!
Union Events will be advertised! So feel free to submit your Society event, and talk a bit about your society too, if you like!
Back to the articles:
Want to talk about how commuting is killing your wallet?
This is your space.
Want to talk about your favourite holiday spot in your country? Please submit! Everyone loves to hear about new places 🙂
Would you like to share tips on how to survive exam season, while working? Share them with all of us!
Want to talk about something unrelated to studies and university, but that a lot of people can connect with? There we go!
I think we all have so much to share, and we can create a community which is based on empathy, knowledge and respect! Some of us might be shyer and more introverted, but this is what I am here for, with the Ruskin Journal. You have the opportunity to be seen and heard, and be remembered on paper!
I trust your creativity. No topic is lame or discouraged: everything is interesting and worth writing. I wrote an article about the psychology behind spaghetti once. So feel free to be yourself!
I will also open submission for 'Student Struggle Meal' as well! Here you can submit your most beloved recipes, with instructions on how to cook them, and pictures too if you like!
Another submission will be for ' Who inspired me this month, and who I am grateful to'- anyone can submit a nice message towards anyone they like! It will be anonymous 🙂
TL;DR:
Guidelines:
1-No swearing, no offensive language. Any article that is considered to be targeting a person, a group of people, or unnecessarily rude will not be published!
2- Feel free to talk about whatever you like; it is always great to raise awareness.
3-Have fun, cooperate and collaborate!
4-Look forward to seeing your article on the paper, bring it home to friends and family!
5-I will be reviewing the submissions before publishing them. If anything needs a little bit of a tweak, I will let you know, and you can update it! I will not be changing your article, just because I think it should be authentic and come from you!
6-If you feel unsure about writing, feel free to message me! I get writers block all the time, but remember: any article matters and your writing always inspires someone else, even if you do not believe it!
7-The journal will be published monthly, so you will have plenty of chances to be included!
