Academic misconduct is considered by the university to be ‘where a student(s) has sought to gain unfair academic advantage in the assessment process for themself or another student(s).’ This can include plagiarism, collusion, use of AI and use of third-party essay writing services. Full definitions and more examples are in the academic regulations, Section 10: Academic Regulations Section 10
Any work that’s not your own or any idea that has come from someone else that is not acknowledged is plagiarism. Intentions do not matter.
If you have exceptional circumstances for an assessment and a penalty for academic misconduct, the exceptional circumstances claim will be voided. If you are having problems, in your studies or outside, it is better to consider your options now. The university student advice service can talk you through what your options are: Student Advice Service
Be mindful of self-plagiarism, as you cannot receive credit for the same work twice. If you do, the assessment is a resubmission attempt. Speak to your faculty for guidance.
