Worried about meeting your upcoming deadline? Know the options available to you.
Request an extension BEFORE the deadline. Union Advice recommend submitting at least one week before the submission date.
Acceptable reasons are a short illness of yourself or someone your care for, authorised absence from university, change of employment circumstances.
Workload is not a valid reason for an extension and if you put this then the request will be rejected.
Note that exams/ in person practical assessments cannot be extended.

We recommend providing evidence to support your request if it is available.
Extensions are not guaranteed, Union Advice recommend continuing to work on your assessment to the best of your ability and where you are able to just in case.
Extension Outcome
If accepted, this will give you a bit more time (5 working days) to submit your work.
Your assessment and grade will still be processed in the original assessment period i.e Trimester 2.
Extensions should not be confused with Exceptional Circumstances!
Exceptional Circumstances, if successful, would void your grade/ submission and you will not submit the work again until the next trimester at the earliest (subject to other element results).
Make sure that you understand the difference between the two and seek guidance if unsure!
Can’t meet your extended deadline?
If you cannot submit work to your extended deadline then you may want to consider submitting work late or, an exceptional circumstances claim.
