WHAT DO OFFICERS DO?

To put it simply, the officers lead the Union.

They lead campaigns, represent students, speak on your behalf, and improve the student experience. They also run events and have regular meetings with decision-makers at all levels of the university and the Union. Most importantly, they work for you, so make sure you get in touch with them, attend Union events, and hold them accountable.

What is the Leadership Election?

The Leadership Election is how students at ARU decide who leads your Union. Each year, during the second trimester, students from across ARU stand for election in order to become officers like the ones above.

If elected, these students will take a year out of their studies (for full-time officer roles) or take on the role alongside their studies (for part-time officer roles). They will be fully trained up over the summer in two full-time weeks of learning & development as a full team, before beginning their roles on their campuses.
