Closing the Loop is a national general surgery conference delivered in collaboration with the Cambridge General Surgery Society and St George’s General Surgery Society. Designed to bridge theory and practice, the day brings together students and surgeons to explore what modern general surgery really looks like on the ward, in theatre, and beyond.

The conference features five hands-on, surgeon-led workshops focused on developing practical skills, alongside a programme of engaging talks covering core surgical themes, training pathways, and career insight. Students will also have the opportunity to present their own research through abstract presentations, fostering academic discussion and feedback from experienced clinicians.

Closing the Loop is about completing the cycle of learning the science, practising the skills, and contributing to the evidence that shapes surgical care.
