Y2C – YES TO CHANGE
Abdullah Zaman for Cambridge Officer
Stronger Voice. Real Results. One United Campus.

As your Cambridge Officer, I will be the recognised and visible voice of Cambridge students, ensuring our campus is never overlooked in Union decisions.

A STRONGER CAMBRIDGE VOICE

• Serve as the formal representative voice for Cambridge students
• Ensure campus-specific issues are prioritised and resolved
• Represent students on university committees
• Provide a bi-weekly bulletin so you know exactly what is being achieved
• Be visible, approachable, and active across campus

Cambridge students deserve leadership that is transparent and action-driven.

WELFARE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS

• Expand hardship funds and widen scholarship access
• Advocate for stronger marketing of wellbeing services so students know support exists
• Introduce bi-weekly wellbeing check-in polls for all students
• Push for a dedicated drug, substance abuse, and alcoholism support wing within student wellbeing services
• Integrate specialised addiction resources, peer-support groups, and confidential guidance pathways
• Advocate for targeted support which is independent of the university for:

  • Students facing attendance struggles due to personal circumstances

  • Students experiencing employer or landlord exploitation

  • Students from war-affected regions

  • LGBTQIA+ students from restrictive backgrounds
    • Encourage lecturers to dedicate five minutes at the end of lectures to signpost wellbeing resources

Welfare should be proactive, not reactive.

FAITH AND INCLUSION

• Advocate for dedicated prayer spaces for Hindu, Sikh and Christian students
• Deliver inclusive cultural events celebrating all communities
• Introduce a Welcome Buddy option for freshers, including the ability to choose someone from a similar background
• Create Freshers Week group systems to prevent isolation and clique culture

No student should feel invisible or alone.

FREE GYM AND STRONGER STUDENT LIFE

• Push for free or subsidised gym membership
• Improve cricket and football facilities
• Advocate for expansion of Student Union space and facilities
• Increase social facilities within the SU
• Organise cross-campus trips and tournaments

A stronger campus builds a stronger community.

ONE UNITED ARU

• Ensure equal representation across all campuses
• End intimidation and clique culture
• Strengthen collaboration between campuses
• Make the Union more visible, accountable, and student-focused

This campaign is about action, accountability, and unity.

I am not running for a position, I am running to deliver.
