Manifesto for Cambridge Campus Officer – Ali

Hello, I’m Ali, a second-year Computer Science undergraduate at Anglia Ruskin University, and I’m running to be your Cambridge Campus Officer.

I’m passionate about improving student life, strengthening communication between students and the Union, and ensuring every student voice on the Cambridge campus is heard, represented, and acted upon. Students deserve a Union that listens, responds, and creates real opportunities not just promises.

As a Computer Science student, I understand the importance of collaboration, problem-solving, and clear communication. These are skills I will bring into this role to advocate effectively for students, address campus-specific issues, and build stronger connections between students, societies, and the Union.

My Key Priorities

Stronger Student Representation
I will be a clear and approachable representative voice for Cambridge students. Whether it’s academic concerns, wellbeing support, or campus facilities, I will ensure your feedback reaches decision-makers and meaningful action follows.

Better Communication Between Students and the Union
Many students are unsure who to contact or how to get involved. I will work to simplify communication, promote Union initiatives clearly, and ensure students understand the support, funding, and opportunities available to them.

Campus-Specific Advocacy
Cambridge students face unique challenges. I will ensure these are recognised in Union wide decisions, working closely with other officers so Cambridge is never overlooked in strategies, events, or resource allocation.

More Student Engagement Opportunities
I will create more ways for students to participate in consultations, forums, and events. Through surveys, in-person meetups, and open discussions, I want you to feel actively involved in shaping your university experience. I will make sure international and national / local students problems are addressed with equal importance.

Supporting Student Democracy and Voice
I will promote student participation in democratic processes, encouraging involvement in representation roles, committees, and societies. Every student should feel that their opinion matters and has impact.

Collaboration and Community Building
By working with Union officers, societies, sports clubs, and student groups, I aim to strengthen the sense of community on the Cambridge campus and address both local and Union wide issues collaboratively.

What I Will Do

  • Represent Cambridge students on university committees and external meetings

  • Act as a strong link between students and the Students’ Union

  • Collect and communicate student feedback to Union leadership

  • Support and promote Union initiatives on the Cambridge campus

  • Create opportunities for students to engage, participate, and be heard

  • Advocate for improvements in student experience, facilities, and services
