NOEL FOR PRESIDENT: Your Voice, Your Future

Who am I? I am Noel. You may already know me as an Event Assistant at the Students’ Union or as the President of the Accounting & Finance Society or perhaps at different events or our weekly football sessions. But beyond those roles, I am a dedicated BSc Accounting and Finance student, a Course Representative for two consecutive years and the founder of a fintech startup, Finix Payments Limited.

My journey at ARU has been defined by a commitment to leadership and inclusivity. Whether I am organising a silent disco, representing your academic concerns, or playing football at campus, my goal is the same: to ensure every student feels welcomed, supported, and heard. I am running for President to scale that impact and deliver a university experience that works for everyone.

As your President, here are my Five Pillars of Support:

1. Support for Academic Experience

As a President of Accounting & Finance Society and two-time Course Rep, I understand the bridge between students and faculty.

  • Industry Integration: I will advocate for more networking events with industry professionals to help students transition into high-level careers like investment banking and tech.
  • Enhanced Resources: Ensuring that academic feedback is not just heard but acted upon to improve module delivery and resource accessibility.

2. Support for Cost of Living

With my background in Finance and Students’ Union, I am uniquely positioned to tackle the financial pressures students face.

  • Affordable Campus Life: I will work to secure more "student-friendly" pricing for essential services and campus amenities and bring back the “£1 meal” along with other multiple meal schemes to ensure ARU remains accessible to all.

3. Support for Mental Health and Wellbeing

Wellbeing is the foundation of student success.

  • Community Through Connection: I will expand the range of low-pressure social events like art classes and games nights to combat student isolation.
  • Accessible Support: I will advocate for shorter waiting times for university counselling services and promote "active wellbeing" through sports and societies.

4. Support for Safety and Equality

A campus must be a sanctuary for all, regardless of gender or race.

  • Safe Campus Initiative: I will lobby for enhanced lighting and security presence for In-Campus safety, specifically focusing on the safety of women and marginalised groups at night.
  • Inclusivity Audits: I will ensure that the Student Union’s diversity and inclusion policies are not just words on a page but reflected in every event and committee.

5. Support for Home and International Students

ARU’s strength lies in its diversity.

  • Integration Programs: I will develop peer-mentorship schemes that pair International-students with Home-students to ease smoother cultural and social transitions.
  • Navigating the UK: Providing targeted workshops for international students regarding housing rights, UK employment laws, and local networking.

Why Vote for Noel?

I do not just talk about the student experience; I work in it every day. From my role as an Event Assistant to my voluntary work helping peers navigate their daily challenges, I have the proven record of accomplishment and the entrepreneurial drive to lead this Union with transparency and passion.

On Election Day, vote for leadership that knows the business of being a student.
