We’re aware that some students are currently unable to access Union activities and opportunities because their information hasn’t been shared with us by ARU. When enrolling, students can choose whether to share their information with Union.
However, ARU does not currently provide a way for students who have opted out to change their decision and opt back in. This means that students who now want to get involved with Union may be unable to:
- Join societies
- Register for or attend Union events
Until ARU provides a way for students to opt back in and their information is successfully shared with us, we may be unable to provide access to these opportunities.
We believe students should be able to change their minds about getting involved with Union, and that doing so should be straightforward. We’ve raised this issue with ARU and are calling for an urgent solution that allows students to update their data-sharing preferences easily.
We’re sorry for the frustration this is causing. We want every student to be able to make the most of their time at ARU, and we’ll continue working to remove these barriers.
