KINGSLEY EHANIRE

“Support That Works. Representation That Delivers.”
At Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), students are resilient – but resilience should not replace support.
Too many of us face mental health pressures, financial strain, communication barriers, and uncertainty about our futures. If elected as your Welfare and Liberation Officer, I will focus on PRACTICAL and MEASURABLE CHANGE that improves everyday student life across ARU campuses.

Mental Health: Faster, Clearer, Accessible Support.
ARU students deserve timely and visible mental health support.
I WILL:
• Advocate for reduced waiting times for counselling, especially during assessment and dissertation periods.
• Introduced a Peer Support Network trained in signposting and wellbeing first aid.
• Work with the university to promote clearer awareness of existing services so that no student struggles alone.
OUTCOME: Quicker access to help and a campus culture where seeking support is normalised.

Academic Experience and Quality Teaching.

Students deserve consistency, clarity and fairness in their education.
I WILL:
• Launch a Student Academic Experience Survey to identify gaps in teaching and feedback.
• Demand open faculty forums where students can challenge and question.
• Advocate for stronger academic skills support across all years – not just first year.
OUTCOME: A stronger, more transparent academic experience that meets student expectations.

Cost of Living and Financial Hardship.
Financial stress should not determine academic success.
I WILL:
• Advocate for more affordable food options and student discounts on campus.
• Support initiatives such as food banks or essential supplies schemes where needed.
• Campaign for clearer signposting and expanded awareness of hardship funds.
OUTCOME: Reduced financial anxiety and better support for low-income students.

Degree Value and Employability.
Students at ARU should graduate with confidence in their futures.
I WILL:
• Advocate for employability workshops embedded within courses.
• Support networking events connecting students with alumni and industry professionals.
• Ensure employability reaches commuter, mature and international students equally.
OUTCOME: Clearer pathways from study to career.

Communication and Administrative Accountability.
Students deserve efficient communication.
I WILL:
• Simplify guidance on who to contact for academic, financial, or welfare concerns.
• Campaign for clearer response-time standards to student enquiries.
• Push for improved communication during timetable changes and policy updates.
OUTCOME: A more responsive and student-friendly university.

Support for Estranged and Independent Students.
Students without family support face unique challenges.
I WILL:
• Advocate for a named support contact within ARU for estranged and careexperienced students.
• Create safe, confidential spaces for students' connection and support.
• Ensure financial and well-being resources are proactively communicated.
OUTCOME: No student at ARU feels invisible or unsupported.

Liberation and Inclusion Commitment.
As Welfare and Liberation Officer, I will actively collaborate with liberation groups to ensure:
• Regular open forums to elevate underrepresented voices.
• Zero tolerance for discrimination.
• Policy advocacy rooted in equity, dignity, and fairness.
• Stronger representation of disabled, LGQBTQ+, international, commuter, mature, and minority students.

Accountability and Transparency.
If elected, I will:
• Maintain an open-door policy.
• Create anonymous feedback channels.
• Provide quarterly progress updates.
• Set clear, time-bound goals within my first 100 days.

I am committed to ensuring that ARU students – regardless of background or circumstance – feel heard, supported, and represented.

Vote for support that works. Vote for representation that delivers.
