The ARU Cambridge Bangla Society is a community-driven organisation dedicated to supporting students of Bangladeshi heritage, as well as anyone interested in learning about and experiencing Bangladeshi culture and traditions.
Our aim is to create a vibrant, inclusive and supportive community that celebrates and promotes the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh through a variety of social, cultural and collaborative events. Through supporting and empowering Bengali students, we strive to enhance their university experience while making a positive impact within the wider Bangladeshi community.
In the heart of bustling Cambridge, balancing university, work and everyday life can sometimes make it difficult to stay connected with our culture. This is what our society prioritises. We provide a space where members can celebrate their heritage, build friendships and create lasting memories.
The Bangla Society also aims to strengthen the connection between the UK and Bangladesh through culture, community and collaboration. We are committed to giving back to the communities that shaped our roots by raising awareness and supporting charitable initiatives for disadvantaged communities in Bangladesh.
We believe that our generation has the opportunity to create meaningful positive change. Through collaborations with other cultural societies at ARU, we hope to build a strong network of young, driven individuals who share a passion for culture, community and positive impact.
Whether you are Bangladeshi, have an interest in Bengali culture, or simply want to meet new people and be part of our community, everyone is welcome.

Meet & Greet – 08/12/2025
The Bangla Society hosted a mini Meet & Greet event where members and new attendees interested in joining the society came together, enjoyed snacks and got to know one another in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Pohela Boishakh 1433 – 13/04/2026
The Bangla Society celebrated Pohela Boishakh 1433, the Bengali New Year, at Ruskin Courtyard, ARU Cambridge. The celebration brought students and the wider community together through cultural performances, food, games and traditional stalls, creating an afternoon filled with Bengali culture and community spirit.
